How do you pray salat ul hajat?

In a book called al-Mazar by Sayyid ibn Tawus, there’s a part about the rituals of the al-Kufah Mosque. After talking about what’s good to do at Imam Ali’s (عَلَیهِ‌السَّلام) pulpit (called mihrab), there’s a special Salat ul Hajat mentioned there for asking for things you need. Though this Salat ul Hajat can be prayed anywhere:

This Salat ul Hajat has four parts, each done alone. After every two parts, you say the Taslim part. Here’s how it goes:

  • In the first part, you read Surah al-Faatehah once and repeat Surah al-Tawheed ten times.
  • In the second part, you read Surah al-Faatehah once and repeat Surah al-Tawheed twenty-one times.
  • In the third part, you read Surah al-Faatehah once and repeat Surah al-Tawheed thirty-one times.
  • In the fourth part, you read Surah al-Faatehah once and repeat Surah al-Tawheed forty-one times.
  • After saying the Taslim and the concluding salutation, you can do the following:

Here you’d continue with whatever actions are described next in the text.

  1. Recite Surah al-Tawheed fifty-one times,
  1. Utter the imploration for forgiveness (i.e. istighfar) fifty times:

Astaghfiru-llah.

I seek forgiveness from Allah.

  1. Invoke blessings upon the Holy Prophet and his Household (i.e. Salawat) fifty times:
  1. Repeat the following statement fifty times:

Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāhil-‘Alīyil-‘Aẓīm.

There is no power nor strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.

  1. And say the following Dua (supplication):

Another Salat ul hajat dua

Al-Kaf’ami suggests a prayer for urgent needs in a book called al-Balad al-Amin. You can write these words on paper and toss them into water (Current water).

Another Salat ul Hajat for settling needs

Many esteemed scholars, including Shaykh al-Mufid, al-Tusi, and Sayyid Ibn Tawus, among others, have transmitted this prayer from Imam al-Sadiq (عَلَیهِ‌السَّلام).

According to the narration of Sayyid Ibn Tawus, the method of performing this prayer is as follows:

If you have a pressing need and seek Almighty Allah’s assistance, you may fast on three consecutive days: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Friday, after bathing and wearing clean clothes, ascend to the highest point of your dwelling.

There, perform a two-rakat salah-like Fajar. Then, raise your hands towards the sky and recite the following Dua:

Now you should mention your need and then say:

Then you may put your face on the floor and say this Dua:

Imam al-Sadiq (عَلَیهِ‌السَّلام) said this, “On numerous occasions, I found myself in need of assistance from Almighty Allah. I thus recited this supplication, and invariably returned with my needs fulfilled by His grace.

What is salat ul hajat?

Salat ul Hajat is a special namaz in Islam. It’s also known as the namaz of need. We offer this prayer when we have something important or urgent we need from Allah, like help or guidance. We pray sincerely and ask Allah for what we need during this prayer. It’s a way for us to seek Allah’s assistance in times of difficulty or when we have important wishes or desires.

Namaz salat ul hajat?

When you pray, Allah helps you in two ways: by giving you success and by answering your prayer.

Your Dua is surrounded by the mercy of Allah from two sides: by success (Tawfiq) from Allah and by the response (the time when Du’a is answered) from Him.

You cannot make Dua until and unless Allah wants you to make dua, which is why he gave you the Tawfiq, and you are reading this.

Indeed, Allah has knowledge of every single thing, to the extent that He knows a leaf falling from a tree.

So when you make Dua to Allah and ask Him something, Indeed, He will respond.

“Call Me, I will answer you.

What are the benefits of salat ul hajat?

Salat ul Hajat, or the Namaz of need, is a special Namaz in Islam with immense benefits. When we pray Salat ul Hajat, we ask Allah for help and guidance when we’re facing difficulties or need something important in our lives. Here are some simple benefits of praying Salat ul Hajat

Relying on Allah for Help: When we pray Salat ul Hajat, we ask Allah for help, like when you ask your parents or teachers for help when you need something. Similarly, we ask Allah for his help through this prayer. Indeed, Allah has said in the Quran that He is always listening to our prayers.

And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:186)

Etiquettes of making Dua

By the Mercy of Allah, all Dua’s are accepted, but depending on Allah, it will be answered in different ways such as:

  1. Allah will fulfill it quickly.
  2. Allah will give it at the appropriate time.
  3. Allah will provide you with something better.
  4. He will protect us from a problem that is about to happen because of the Dua you made.
  5. He will reward us in the afterlife (Barzakh).

There are certain times when Duas will be answered soon.

We should always start the dua by praising Allah (Alhamdulillah), invoke Salawat blessings on the household of the Holy Prophet, and then ask for forgiveness.

Then, mention your needs.

Making Dua for other believing Muslim brothers and sisters is beloved by Allah. That is why I always start by making Dua for others first and then mentioning my needs later.

I like to end my Dua in this order:

  1. Hasten the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (عَلَیهِ‌السَّلام).
  2. Dua for parents. (click to read dua for parents).
  3. Salawat.
  4. Praise of Allah.

Conclusion

Our souls and minds are imprisoned in this world, trapped by worldly desires. Because of envy, hatred, backbiting, anger, greed, use of foul language, lying, mocking others, deception, hypocrisy, arrogance, boasting, and self-admiration, we have encountered many problems. As a result, our souls have become sick, and they are unable to find eternal peace. And thus Allah puts us in problems so that we may realize our true goal is not this Duniya.

Hygiene and cleanliness are fundamental aspects of a Muslim’s life. We must not forget this and ensure that our body, clothing, and place of prayer are free from impurities such as things that are considered Najis or Haram.
